Trio of Arsenal stars set to be in contention for Villareal tie, according to Mikel Arteta

|

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Kieran Tierney are in contention to return for the semi-final clash versus Villareal.

The trio have been out with injuries over the last few weeks with the club captain having suffered from Malaria, the France international from a hamstring issue and Tierney from a knee injury.

Speaking ahead of the clash with the Yellow Submarine, Mikel Arteta confirmed that the trio are in contention, but, stopped short of confirming if they’d start.

Arteta said: “They are all in contention. All of them. Including Aubameyang, Laca and Kieran. They are all in contention for the game. Yes [it is good news].”

Will Kroenke sell Arsenal?

Yes

No

The news couldn’t get much sweeter for the Spaniard, who would’ve dreaded the worst after the abysmal result at home to Everton.

The return of the three players greatly enhances the club’s chances in their semi-final tie, and given the uncertainty surrounding their fitness in recent weeks, proves a great boost.

Aubameyang was struck down with malaria and his fitness was relatively unknown up until the press conference yesterday.

Meanwhile, Lacazette and Tierney were thought to be out for the season, however, have made spectacular recoveries from hamstring and knee injuries respectively.

Given the qulality possessed by the three players, their return to action as Arsenal go in the hunt for a return to Champions League football is welcome news for a team that has struggled to just two wins across their last six games in all competition.

In other news, Arsenal are interested in signing a La Liga star.
