OK, so Toure wasn’t quite saying that anyone should stick Gattuso anywhere, but it sounds good. No? Ok.

But Arsenal’s vice-captain did have a massive amount of praise for the Frenchman, and compared him to Italian stallion Gennaro Gattuso.

Flamini has been in fine form since the start of the campaign, and his work rate and team ethic is now symbolic of how this current Arsenal team will fight for eachother.

Toure told L’Equipe: ‘He does such a huge job in midfield. Thanks to him, in defence we are rarely put in trouble.

‘He is a real marathon runner, he runs everywhere. He has a fantastic heart and fights for everyone.’

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Gattuso, he’s renowned for being a combative grafter in midfield, which explains Kolo’s comments.

‘Having such a player in your team is just great. He is involved in any clash, but only for the good of the team. That is why we call him Gattuso.

As a measure of how fantastic Flamini has been so far this season, bear in mind that he is keeping Gilberto out of the team at the moment. A player that has not only won the World Cup, but a player that probably deserved to win Arsenal’s player of the year award last season.

Let’s hope that Flamini’s form continues to give Arsene Wenger the current selection headache he has at the moment.
