Thierry Henry made a decision this week to commit his future to Arsenal, and with that, probably announced himself as the greatest Gooner ever to live

When Henry arrived at Highbury he was a broken man, with a miserable spell at Juventus ending with a £10 million transfer to North London.

His first few months he spent whacking speculative shots from distance that were more likley, in his own words, to ‘break the clock at the clock end rather than the net’

He eventually broke his duck against Southampton, the flood gates opened and he hasn’t stopped since, only recently breaking Ian Wright prolific scoring record.

The records have once again been tumbling for Thierry, not happy with being Arsenal’s alltime top scorer, he has recently broken David Seaman’s European appearance’ record, he became the first player to score more than 100 goals at one single premiership stadium and has now scored more goals at Highbury than any other player…..EVER!!!!!

These are but a few reasons why the humble Frenchman is a Highbury hero and a general all round legend.

It’s not just his scoring records that make this man one of the greats, it’s the way he plays. Henry has a footballing brain like no other, he see’s things other players would never think of, he does things no other player could dream of, and some of his goals just take your breath away.

To have lost Henry to another club would have been a disaster, to Arsenal and to the Premiership. No other player has captured the thoughts of a nation as Henry has, young boys want to be him, the men want him at their clubs and the mums, well they just want him.

Thierry Henry is one of the greatest players ever to grace our beautiful game, and is definately the greatest Gooner to pull on the famous red and white shirt.

The most exciting part of Henry’s announcment, were the words uttered by every Arsenal fan as often as Henry scores.
