The ‘E’ Factor: Part 2

The club and country link is completely warped in this country, no club owes anything to the national side, in fact if the Arsenal bashing nationalistic England fans realised that the England franchise is making millions of pounds with the club players that we the fans essentially pay for, they wouldn’t be so eager to jump on the nationalistic bandwagon.

We contribute literally millions of pounds into the clubs we support, we provide wages, stadium maintenance, future prospects and ambition, in return we deserve the best that our clubs can offer, and that means getting the best players available, if these means an Englishmen fine, if it means a Brazilian fine, and week in week out we are rewarded for our loyalty and financial contribution by the best players our clubs can provide playing for us, our money and dedication is put straight back into our club and lives and during this time England has nothing to do with anything, it’s a mere location.

But the England national side set up does nothing but take our club players, the players which our clubs have made a name of, then use our players to make money for the England franchise, this money is not put back into our daily lives like it is at club level, this money made makes rich men even richer.

Club sides are concerned with the lives of it’s fans, this is a daily relationship and has nothing to do with anyone else, including England. Arsenal don’t owe England a damn thing, is England going to help us out if Arsenal get hit by a load of injuries? No. Is England concerned with the happiness of Arsenal fans? No. So why would England assume that Arsenal should somehow develop a team with one eye and how it benefits the national game.

Those who fall for this xenophobic Arsenal bashing should realise that this is the exact same tone as the racist bullshit from the 70’s, and by that I mean uneducated ideas of national identity and nationalistic pride polluting the mind and stopping people seeing things clearly, in hindsight racism in football seems ridiculous but at the time people were convinced that black players didn’t fit in to nationalistic ideals. Which is disturbingly similar to the Arsenal bashing going on in 2006 – Arsenal don’t have many English players therefore they don’t contribute or benefit the national set up, therefore they are not part of our nationalistic ideals, therefore let’s hate them – what caveman mentality rubbish.

Anyway it’s ironic that being a good English player has absolutely nothing to do with getting in to the national side, just check the current England side and note the amount of mediocre players which just happen to be marketable, they are not there on merit or ability.

So, you can be the highest scoring English player (Darren Bent last season) and it makes no difference whether you will be selected or not, player statistics and facts have little to do with national selection, so don’t try and blame Arsenal for not contributing to the English game. That accusation is bollocks for two main reasons 1. Arsenal owe the national side absolutely nothing and 2. The English game has been sh*t for ages, long before Wenger came along, which proves the Arsenal bashers wrong whilst also highlighting my point about Darren Bent and the crap politics of English football

As I recall the Arsenal side of the 80’s was almost entirely English, yet hang on a minute…England were totally sh*t, could it be that this current Arsenal bashing has more to do with jelousy of foreign talent and achievement rather than genuine football concerns, afterall, a Frenchmen just walked in to England, revolutionised the domestic game, won trophies and played a brand of football light years ahead of the traditional English style, all this and England were not invited – that’s their real problem with Arsenal.
