Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill-Wood has confirmed that Henry will be offered a mega deal at the end of the season in order to keep the star striker at Arsenal. He says they haven’t spoken about the deal yet but ‘it is fair to say he would become the highest paid player in Arsenal’s history – and deservedly so.’ Some reports suggest his wages could be as high as £100 000 a week.

West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand has been linked to Arsenal as a long term successor to Sol Campbell who has broken down in training once again. Liverpool have also been linked as a possible suitor.

Wenger has been linked to a January bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s Bulgarian international striker Dimitar Berbatov. Atletico Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna both tried to sign him this summer after he scored 21 goals last season in the Bundesliga and has five goals in eight matches so far this season. He is under contract until 2009 but reports suggest a bid in the region of £7million may pursuade the club to part with him.

Italian legend Alessandro del Piero has been linked to Arsenal and Tottenham. The 28 year old Juventus striker is contracted until 2008 but has frustrated club officials with a drop in form.

Reyes has rubbished reports that the league title is already on the way to Stamford Bridge ‘With the owner they have [Chelsea], they can sign any player they want in the world. However, we are still calm about things, we are going to take things at our own pace and try to catch up with them in the end.’

Fabregas has been nominated for an award for the London Young Footballer of the Year award in the BBC London Sports Award. He faces competition from West Hams Anton Ferdinand and Brentfords Jay Tabb. Hmm, that bit of news didn’t end up as excitiing as I’d hoped!

Arsenal reserves beat Spurs 2-0 on Monday night. Neil Banfield fielded a young side. Strikers Nicklas Bendtner and Arturo Lupoli scored one each.
