Well that wasn`t very good was it?

Admittedly I only managed to watch the first half as mercifully the Virgin Anywhere app went titsup shortly after half-time saving y eyes from witnessing football`s most evil slaphead scoring past my beloved team.

However despite grabbing yet another goal, Giroud`s strike was probably the highlight of a second half that was just as bad as the first (somebody correct me). My worry going into the game was the inexperienced right side partnership of Mathieu Debuchy and Joel Campbell and it was indeed found wanting.

That side the eternally more experience left side of Monreal and Sanchez didn`t fare any better, it`s just one of those nights where you have to hold up your hands and say you were battered from pillar to post not only by the better team, but by probably the best team in Europe.

Thankfully my ears were spared a second half of the hideous (even worse than Michael Owen, never thought I would say that) Owen Hargreaves saying “1 v 1”, “Forget about it” and gushing about how everyone and everything is the best he`s ever seen.

Next up … Spurs! That should be fun!
