It was being reported yesterday evening that Manchester City were now preparing a cash plus Raheem Sterling swap deal for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.

Sky Sports were reporting that Pep Guardiola remained interested and ‘desperate’ to sign the 29 year old before the window closes this week, and their sources claimed that Sterling could now be used as a makeweight to get the deal done.

Sky lean on Chilean media T13 who have apparently reported that Sanchez has sought permission to leave the Chile training camp to ‘conduct personal business’ and of course that’s leading a lot to put two and two together.

There’s also a suggestion that if Sterling doesn’t excite Arsene Wenger to do the deal, they may well involve Sergio Aguero, although he remains officially not for sale.

They state that City would prefer a straight cash deal, but with the deadline nearing they are looking at other options but for Sterling they would want a cross fee arrangement to make it happen.

Later in the evening, Sky were reporting that a £50million bid had been rejected.
