On Monday Arsene Wenger told the official Gunners website that he always takes the League Cup seriously.

Wenger has taken much criticism over the past few years (along with many other managers) for “devaluing” the League Cup by fielding squads of younger, and fringe players to tackle this competition, and despite this the Arsenal gaffer maintained he is serious about the tournament.

Of the criticism Wenger said ‘We have always taken the competition seriously, we use it as an opportunity to give a chance to some young players and people relate that to not taking it seriously but it is the opposite.”

‘Because we take it seriously we want to always offer two things – the desire to win and the opportunity for our fans to see some of the players who represent the future for this club.’

Well last night`s victory over Bolton made it the 9th consecutive season that Arsenal have reached the quarter finals of the League Cup. Breaking our own record of 8 consecutive ΒΌ finals that was established last season.

The closest club to the record is Liverpool with 5 consecutive quarter finals.
