Big Phil Senderos is in the process of fighting to win back his place after a lengthy lay off, and believes as long as he trains well, then he will play.

Senderos played a major role in lasts seasons campaign but was unfortunate to suffer a major injury whilst on international duty at the world cup.

Because of his absence he now appears to be (for me anyway) 4th in the pecking order of central defenders behind Toure, Gallas & Djourou. But Swiss Tony won’t let this bother him, that’s Arsene Wenger’s problem.

‘I`m happy and proud the boss decided to give me the No 6 shirt but the only thing that really counts is how you do on the park.

“Of course people will say the No 6 shirt is heavy because Tony Adams used to wear the number. But I just feel with the new stadium, it is like a new team and it is maybe a change of era.’ Siad Senderos

“One thing is always the same at Arsenal ? if you are playing well, then you will play, that is the way it is here. The boss has the problem, not the players. He has to choose who plays and if it is a problem for him, then that is a good sign.’

“It`s up to us to do well and make it hard for him.’

“It is good for the club and the players, because you can only get better when there`s competition.”
