It’s being reported that Alexis Sanchez has suffered a low grade muscle injury whilst training with Chile ahead of their international games this fortnight.

The forward was forced to withdraw from training on Tuesday, but some reports suggest that he will return to contention for their game on Thursday in the World Cup qualifier against Colombia, whereas other reports suggest he will ‘likely’ miss that particular game.

Whatever the injury is, it appears to be small as he will remain with the camp for the remainder of the international window, and he won’t instantly return for treatment with us.

A brief statement from the Federacion de Futbol de Chile explained.

‘The medical corps of the Chilean national team informs the player Alexis Sanchez has a low-grade muscle injury. The athlete will stay in Santiago, under treatment and in evaluation.’

Hopefully it will only be minor and Chile won’t push him if he’s not ready, and he remains in contention for our game against Manchester United when football returns.
