Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez believes he should be considered on a par with former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

I think we know first hand just what qualities Sanchez has and what he’s brought to the table for Arsenal since his arrival with him a classy footballer.

He’s said in an interview with Sport that he feels he’s now at a level where he can ‘compete with great players, such as those two.

‘I have reached a level where I can compete with great players.’

With Ronaldo and Messi holding a monopoly over the Ballon d’Or in recent years, with this an accolade Ronaldo is poised to win again this year, if Sanchez can get into a position where he’s challenging for such an award then he’ll definitely be classed as one of the great players wouldn’t he.

The Chilean international concluded he likens his qualities to both and certainly doesn’t feel inferior to them and anybody else for that matter.

‘I do not feel inferior to anybody. I liken (my qualities) to Messi and Ronaldo. I have the same abilities as them.’

His two-years with Arsenal so far have been impressive years if he can push it that step further and put himself in the reckoning for these accolades then (as I say) he’ll truly be considered one of the greats and we’ll not go far wrong in the meantime!
