Jack Wilshere’s Arsenal career could be moving into an end game after Sky Sports reported a first bid had been made for the midfielder?

Sampdoria interest had been mooted recently with it now claimed the Italian club have actually put forward a bid for the Gunners midfielder, of course into the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

An offer of £6m plus £1.5m in add-ons has been tabled.

Will this be enough to tempt Arsenal into offloading Wilshere, 25, on a permanent basis? It would also come down to the England midfielder being open to a switch to Serie A too at Sampdoria, who finished in 10th last season.

Arsene Wenger said at the weekend he expected Wilshere to remain an Arsenal player this season and ‘fight for a place’ in the starting XI.

Wenger was quoted by Sky: ‘I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes. I will give you a very focused answer on that. He has to work hard to come back and fight for a place in the team. But once he is ready, when he comes back, he will not be far from practising with the team.’

Having spent last season on loan at Bournemouth Wilshere is currently recovering from a broken leg sustained during his spell with the Cherries, which, in a cruel twist of fate, was sustained against north London rivals Tottenham.

Wilshere already been linked with a potential loan switch to Crystal Palace, who are also reportedly chasing Gunners teammate Calum Chambers.
