Rumours apparently circulating among football circles in Scandinavia and less surprisingly on fans forums that Nicklas Bendtner`s persistent groin injury threatens to end his football career have brought a sharp rejection from the Danish striker.

The injury is being linked to a car accident he had in September of last year though he played a number of games for both club and country before limping out of the game at home to Spurs at the end of October. Speaking to a journalist at a Sports website in Denmark Nicklas says:

“It’s crazy to hear such things, I can reject them completely. I have been very concerned about it, but it has not even been mentioned as an issue that it could cost me my career. Never. I reject the idea completely, and I cannot understand how the story arose – it is nonsense. There will be many things said about me, but this rumour is quite appalling, I think.”

Though he has recently started training with the ball, wary of adding to any doubts, he and the club have avoided putting any firm date on his return.

“Now, I look forward, and there is much to look forward to. I expect to be ready to come back before too long, but will not put a date on it. I have now developed a plan and a timetable with Arsenal that I am working from, but we keep the details to ourselves to avoid unnecessary pressure” he said.

As if to add further reassurance that his physical impairment isn`t too restrictive Nicklas also expects to become a father in a few months as his fiancée, wealthy Baroness Caroline Fleming, is pregnant.

“Everything goes according to plan with the football – and off the field” assures the Dane “When I just have to get the last things to work in my life: to be back on the pitch in top form, it could not be better.”
