In that crazy night at Ashburton Grove by far the easiest opportunity missed was that of Tomas Rosicky.

Now the wiley midfielder has spoken about the anguish it has caused him. Earlier in the competition he struck a 30 yards wonder goal against Hamburg, yet fluffed his chance from three yards with an open goal against Moscow.

‘It was the biggest miss of my career,’ he admitted.

‘I simply have to score from such situation. Also because of this, it is hard for me to speak about it.’

‘When I was going in, there were a lot of players and I lost the ball from my sight. I did not see it and tried to find it. But I found it at the moment when it hit me in my leg.’

‘It was an unlucky match for us. We did something similar in The Premiership against Everton (1-1). We have no problem in creating chances, we just have problems with scoring. That makes us worry nowadays.’

‘We discussed it with the lads, that is strange. It is hard to say something more.’

‘We have plenty of footballers that are able to score goals and practically all of the offensive players – Henry, Van Persie, Hleb, me and Fabregas – have got at least one chance on Wednesday.’

‘Perhaps it is about scoring first. But we can´t panic. It will change soon, I am convinced about it.’

I hope and pray the Tomas doesn’t let this miss get to him, it happens to the best of ’em and a goal against West Ham on Saturday should really cure that Champions League hangover.

  • you know, aslong as they are creating the many many chances it will come good, yes it was dissapointing, but no way near a disaster. everything will come good and ofcourse it just makes sunday worth the wait, i feel good about sunday

  • Well said puregold. And as Platty said after the match, any team who creates 24 chances will win the majority of their matches. It was unfortunate but it was “one of those nights”!!!It is frustrating, but not nearly as frustrating as if CSKA would’ve created 24 chances. Lets just hope we can take out the frustaration on West Ham. Just a quick note, talking about West Ham. A friend of mine is in charge of the kids football team where DB10’s son Mitchell plays. My friend (a Hammers season ticket holder and devout fan) has recently had a baby boy. Dennis turned up a couple of weeks ago with, you guessed it, an Arsenal babygrow. The man’s not only a true legend, but still a true Gooner!!!

  • DB is without doubt a true legend, gent and gooner. ofcourse spuds fans will have you believe otherwise. i hear he loves london life and won’t sell up, i also hear wenger is trying to rope him into scouting like he did with grimandi, i hope so, cos i would love dennis to be around AG, for me he was by far the greatest player i have had the privilage of watching.

  • Yep he was. In fact I’m trying to bribe my 8 year old daughter to start playing football on sundays just so I can stand next to him haha

  • DB10 will always be a gooner. I rememebr that story after we’d lost the fa semi replay vs manyoo at villa park, and dennis went back home, and his som was in tears at the result. He speaks liek a gooner and behaves like one – with utter class 😀

my fave ever arsenal player – and always will be. A true gent 🙂

  • Yeah, there’s so much about Spurs to make one love them. I was shocked to read in the papers that Chelsea have never lost at WHL since 1987!! 1987!! WTF?

  • Tomas, our support hasn’t dimished one bit. You have massive potential to rain on goals for the Gunners. What happened has happened. It should be considered as water under the bridge. Our optimism and winning spirit for the coming games should be our concern now.

  • hate the goons – if spurs and arsenal were biscuits, we’d be Balksen Choco Liebniz (full of continental class), and the spuds would be supermarket own brand chocolate homewheat (nowhere near as good, but at least they’re baked in england). But it’d be at some f***ed up supermarket where the own label brand costs more to buy than the nice classy biscuits…

  • Everyone knows how the saying goes, you score the hard ones but miss the easy ones, happens to the best of us, he just has to keep his head up and improved !!!
