Jean Michael Seri is another name we can now add to the list of players Arsenal are interested in signing, according to the Sun.

These reports, following on from the previous rumours in the Guardian saying Arsenal and Tottenham had ‘expressed an interest’ in the Nice midfielder, also attracting attention from Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona, claim Roma have been put off by his asking price.

Apparently, a £35m release clause has proven too rich for Roma, runners up in Serie A last season, and this could give Arsenal something of a free run at Ivory Coast international Seri, 25.

Well, I say free run, but Tottenham could offer a rival bid for the box-to-box midfield, scorer of seven goals in France last season as Nice surprisingly offered up a Ligue 1 title challenge before falling away at the last, who could be on his way to London this summer.

Seri has made it clear, pointed to by the Sun, a potential exit from Nice would only come about if he was guaranteed first team football as he wouldn’t leave his present club to ‘be on the bench’ elsewhere.

As we know further interest in French based players, Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, 21, and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, 26, isn’t looking as if this will amount to anything – certainly in the case of Lemar.
