Arsenal`s Cameroonian right back Lauren began his return to fitness on Friday as he played his first game for 11 months in a friendly match at Arsenal`s London Colney training centre.
It had been feared at one point that ‘Ralph` would never play again after undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury back in January. But the fierce defender`s character shone through and he managed 55 minutes against Arsenal associate club Hoang Anh Gia Lai.
Lauren wore the captain`s armband as he led a team consisting mainly of fringe and reserve players.
He showed no reaction after being substituted and will continue his return in the reserve team before he returns to the first team squad.
