Report: PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino joins European giants in race to sign £110k-p/w ace

Mauricio Pochettino is interested in making a move for Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, according to Italian website CalcioMercato.

The publication are claiming that Paris Saint Germain are one of three teams across Europe, who are keeping a close eye on the full-back alongside Juventus and Barcelona.

Bellerin has endured a mixed season with the Gunners, earning a recall to the Spain national side before forgetting how to take a throw on during Arsenal’s torrid run of form during November and December.

Should Arsenal sell Hector Bellerin?

Yes

No

Arsenal are currently being forced to sell players before they can buy any during the current transfer window, a depiction of their current financial plight. Given the size of the clubs interested in the £110k-p/w Spain international, the Reds could well fetch a decent fee for the defender.

However, value in the transfer market shouldn’t be the only reason Arsenal look to move on a player, who has stagnated since making his full debut for the club back in 2014. A loss of pace, as well as lack of ability both in defence and attack, has meant Bellerin is one of the weaker spots of the current starting XI.

The game against Tottenham Hotspur really did highlight how far the right-back has fallen off in recent years with Heung-Min Son enjoying a field day against the former Barcelona academy product.

Value and drop off in ability are good enough reasons to wave goodbye to a player, who is one of the more loved assets at the club. However, looking at the current squad, none of the players retain a higher value than the Spaniard especially when you look at the stature of the teams interested in making a move.

In other news, Mikel Arteta has made this improvement a catalyst during his Arsenal reign.
