Report: Ex-rival ace open to Arsenal transfer less than a year after leaving PL

|

Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Internazionale ace Christian Eriksen in a cut-price deal, according to ESPN.

The American publication are claiming that the Dane has been offered to the Gunners for as little as £12m, less than the £16.9m the Italian club paid for his services less than a year ago.

However, it has also emerged that despite his connections to Tottenham Hotspur, the Denmark international would consider a move to their north London rivals.

It’s hard enough to find any sort of options in the January transfer market with players widely unavailable. But, when a player is reportedly willing to make the move and at what can only be described as a bargain, you’d have to be stupid to turn the move down.

Mikel Arteta’s side are in no place to be rejecting a potential transfer for the playmaker, who showed his immense quality whilst playing for the old foes. The Gunners lack any sort of creativity in the final third with their lack of goals a sign of how bad things have been this season.

Do Arsenal need to sign a creative midfielder in the January transfer window?

Yes

No

And it’s not like the north London side would be throwing money down the drain. Eriksen showed his class for Spurs during his seven-year stay at the club, especially in his final full season. The attacking midfielder was instrumental in the side reaching the Champions League final and ended the season with 10 goals and a staggering 17 assists across all competitions as he enjoyed a brilliant campaign.

Arteta can be forgiven for attempting to implement his own style on the side so far, however, he won’t be forgiven if after watching his style fail, he passes up the opportunity to fix the problems for a mere £12m.

In other news, Ally McCoist has shown his support for one under-fire Arsenal figure.
