Report: David Ornstein reveals new information about £22.5m-rated transfer target

|

David Ornstein has released some exclusive information about Dominik Szoboszlai, an Arsenal target for the January transfer window.

Ornstein has revealed that the player has a €25m (roughly £22.8m)release clause in his contract that needs to be paid within two weeks of being activated.

It has also emerged that, based on the fee a future club should sell the 20-year-old for, Red Bull Salzburg would receive 20% of said amount.

The Gunners are thought to be one of a number of clubs interested in signing the young Hungarian playmaker, who has lit up the Champions League this season.

Would Szoboszlai be a realistic addition for Arsenal in January?

Yes

No

Having watched the likes of Willian whip in meaningless cross and meaningless cross into the Tottenham Hotspur box yesterday, I think I speak for most fans when I say Szoboszlai is a signing that is desperately needed.

The Gunners were afforded one avenue of attack by Jose Mourinho’s side, who purposefully packed the middle, and some of the players were naive enough to fall into the trap laid out. There was no dynamism in attack, no player who could’ve got on the ball and sparked something magical out of nothing.

Ever since Arsenal left Mesut Ozil out of their Premier League squad, the attack has looked fairly one dimensional, struggled to create chances and failed to score many goals. Szoboszlai has shown that he could well have the x-factor with his displays in Europe’s premier competition.

He averages 2.4 key passes and 2.3 crosses per game, showing the diversity in his game. Not only is he willing to cross from wide areas, but, he can also create chances from open play.

Arsenal have struggled so badly in the final third and are crying out for some innovation from somewhere. The £22.5m-rated Hungary international could be the one to provide it and at €25m is a bargain worth taking.

In other news, Tony Adams has lambasted an Arsenal duo for their role in Spurs’ second goal yesterday.
