Report: Arsenal keeping tabs on £2.16m-rated ace after yet another William Saliba interview

|

Arsenal are said to be keeping tabs on Konstantinos Mavropanos’ development at Stuggart amid claims the defender should be re-introduced into the Gunners first team next season, according to Chris Wheatley.

The £2.16m-rated Greek centre-half was sent out to the Bundesliga outfit in last summer transfer window and has impressed for the German side.

He was signed by the north London outfit back during Arsene Wenger’s time in charge and has featured just a mere eight times for Arsenal since his move in 2018.

Who should Arsenal sell in the summer window?

Mavropanos

Saliba

Mikel Arteta finds himself in a great situation concerning Arsenal’s defence. Since his introduction as manager of the club the side’s defence has improved massively, conceding the third-least amount of goals this season.

And to add the cherry on the cake, the Spaniard has the likes of William Saliba and Mavropanos returning from their loan spells from their respective clubs in the summer. It means the Gunners’ defence will be improved further as they look to improve on what has been a shocking Premier League season.

However, the question remains, which of the two will make their mark in north London?

There remain question marks over Saliba’s attitude after the Frenchman continued to give interviews about his lack of game time for the first team in the opening half of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the Greece youth international has been impressive for the German outfit in what has been a stop-start season for the young defender.

If Saliba’s poor attitude carries on into next season, it would be a wise decision from Arteta to sell him and entrust his Greek counter-part as an option in his backline.

In other news, Alan Shearer had a go at Arsenal for having an awkward encounter with a former player.
