Report: Arsenal join raft of European clubs in race for £22.5m-rated Serie A striker

Arsenal are among a number of clubs tracking Serie A youngster Dusan Vlahovic ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

However, the Gunners aren’t alone in scouting the player with the likes of RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and AS Roma in pursuit of the 21-year-old.

The Italian publication are also claiming the player signed by Cesare Prandelli is of ‘immeasurable value‘ to his club, Fiorentina.

Can Arsenal win the Europa League?

Arsenal’s pursuit of a striker is probably one of the club’s worst kept secrets. Consistency has been hard to find across the whole pitch/squad this season, however, especially from the frontmen.

Club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been firing on and off all year long and Alexandre Lacazette has been enduring what can only be described as a rollercoaster of a season. Then there are the likes of Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun, youngsters tipped to be the next big things, who can’t even make the first-team squads in recent matches.

And if recent speculation is anything to go by Arsenal’s number nine could be off in the summer window with the latest gossip claiming several clubs are after the striker, who has just one year left on his contract after this season.

In Vlahovic, the Reds are targeting one of the hottest young prospects in Europe with the young ace having already scored 12 times in Serie A this season. He averages over two shots and aerial duels per league game for the Florence-based side showing a mixture of potency and power in the final third.

Arsenal’s need for a striker is just as big as their desire, but, given how little of a secret it proves, Mikel Arteta’s men would do well to go for a cheaper option like the £22.5m-rated Vlahovic this summer.

In other news, Arsenal could do battle with two Premier League rivals for one of their own players.
