Report: Arsenal considering using young aces as makeweights in transfer of 24 y/o

|

Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson are among the players Arsenal are considering to offer Norwich City in a cash plus player deal for the 24-year-old Emiliano Buendia.

It is being claimed that the club are investigating the possibility of the move as they’ve made getting rid of players their priority this window.

The duo have been on the periphery of the Premier League squad this season, making a combined eight appearances in the top-flight.

Should Arsenal get rid of Joe Willock or Reiss Nelson?

Sell Willock

Sell Nelson

Sell both

Don't sell either

It would be devastating to watch one or both of the young academy products leave the club. In Nelson’s case, he has far too many players ahead of him in the pecking order in attack for him to get game time. A move away seems to be the only way he’ll play regular competitive football.

However, Willock is the real tricky one, especially given how well he has performed in the Europa League this season. The young ace scored three goals and assisted a further three in just five appearances in the competition. He has a bright future and with Arsenal having been exposed in midfield throughout last year, the 20-year-old definitely has a future in N5.

Nonetheless, will he be afforded these opportunities by manager Mikel Arteta? The answer seems to be no at this moment in time and for that reason, the Hale End star could well force a move himself in order to play regular first-team football.

Losing either of, or both, the young England internationals will be heartbreaking for anyone connected with Arsenal. They possess the talents to make a difference, however, it seems with the squad so saturated, it’s only a matter of time before they seek a move away to make the grade.

In other news, Arsenal are in pole position to complete a move for a European midfielder.
