Report: Arsenal battling Internazionale for South American ace with £40m release clause

|

Arsenal have made contact with the agents of Santos youngster Kaio Jorge ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

The Gunners are thought to be one of a number of clubs in the running to sign the ace alongside the likes of Internazionale and Juventus.

His contract is up for expiration in December of this year, however, is also thought to hold a £40m release clause, according to Forbes.

Do Arsenal need to sign another young striker?

Yes

No

A new striker seems to be top of Arsenal’s priority list for this summer’s window with the future of Alexandre Lacazette far from conclusive.

Reports from the football.london have claimed that the French forward has already decided to leave the north London in search of a new challenge abroad. It’s thought the feeling is mutual between the star and the club, who are willing to let him leave for the right offer.

Then there’s the uncertainty surrounding Eddie Nketiah, who has been left out of the squad for the last six Premier League games in a row. Mikel Arteta blamed himself for the stunt in his youthful career, claiming the England youth international deserves to play more games.

Should both players depart as looks the case at this moment in time, there would definitely be room for another striker at the club. Arsenal dabbled in the South American market a few seasons ago when they acquired Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano in the fourth-tier.

He’s since gone on to be a massive success for the outfit and should the ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’ be anything close to him, £40m would be a bargain to pay.

In other news, one Arsenal legend has spoken of his eagerness in returning to the club.
