Report: £13.5m-rated ace allowed to leave Arsenal on loan this month

|

Calum Chambers is one defender who is set to leave Arsenal on loan for the second half of the season, according to The Telegraph.

The centre-half has enjoyed an injury-ravaged year or so in north London after suffering a brutal knee issue in the loss to Chelsea back in December 2019.

He returned to first-team action in the club’s last two Europa League games against Rapid Vienna and Dundalk, starting and finishing the latter.

Should the club allow Chambers to leave the club this month?

Yes

No

Seeing Chambers leave the club will be pretty heart-breaking especially given how well he proved to be in the first half of last campaign. Chambers held down a regular starting place at centre-back, appearing from the beginning in 12 of the first 20 Premier League games.

And it wasn’t to fill voids left by injury either, as a matter of fact Chambers was one of the most consistent players in what was a shocking time under Unai Emery. He averaged the third-most tackles and played the third-most passes of any Gunners player in the top-flight.

However, given how well Pablo Mari, Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes have performed this year, it’s hard to make a case for Chambers to break into the starting XI. The England international’s best hope is to leave this month and get consistent football at another top-flight side.

Who knows? The £13.5m-rated ace may well force his way back into Mikel Arteta’s thinking through hard work like Mohamed Elneny has done this campaign.

It’s going to be a long road back to the starting XI, but, if Chambers carries on in the same vein of form he left off in than he may well secure a spot under the Spanish coach.

In other news, Danny Murphy has compared this youngster to Jack Grealish.
