Professor: It Will Happen Again

Okay, I know we are all feeling low about yesterday’s crap performance and result, but how long have we known Wenger now? For a decade he has dealt with defeat the same way, he rarely, if ever, criticises his players in public, form watching his post match interviews for over 10 years, I can tell when he is angry with his team but I also know that his bollockings are done behind closed doors.

He obviously feels that this young team of self made stars are on a knife edge, this is a crucial period of development and if his words of over protection makes us cringe then so be it, it must make Wenger cringe too, but he is in no way going to put his personal feelings above the development of the team. He doesn’t care what the media or reactionary fans think because he has a plan and knows how best to implement it.

Mourinho on the other hand is absolutely right to publically bitch about his overpaid sluts, they lose two key players, just two in a huge squad which are replaced by established players not youngsteres and yet the team fall to pieces. In contrast we have lost our first choice right back, first choice left back, first choice centre back, left winger, striker and yesterday we lost the replacements too, our young team have been learning on the fly without a break, so whilst I agree that our performance yesterday was utter shit I just think it’s the kind of thing that happens when you have young players and major injuries in key positions. No other top team in the premiership has lost as many key players to departures or injuries as us, I’m not making excuses but I think that we can’t expect to lose in a good way, as it stands, this team will lose in the most frustrating and disapointing way.

It was inevitable that we would lose yesterday, you can just feel when our team have given as much as they can and you just know they won’t keep it up, it will happpen again no doubt.

Man Utd are still calling on well established older players to help them out, Chelsea are relying on well established older players to get them out of trouble, Liverpool are relying on a established defensive set up to grind out results. We have been relying on Gilberto and the odd bit of magic from our youngsters, it’s just going to break at some point and it broke yesterday. To put it in perspective, our rivals are still using the same players that were the opponents for Bergkamp, Vieira, Pires, Campbell and Edu.
