1) Burnley are into the quarter finals of the League cup having already dispatched Fulham & Chelsea, how is the rest of your season going?

We started really bad with 2 heavy defeats. The system was alien to us and we must have had a dozen pre-season friendlies which got us all thinking the worst. Coyle stuck to his tactics and style which as basically paid off big time now that the players have got to know the system and each other. We play good attacking football and are a real danger going forward. A lack of pace at the back is a concern, but Coyle seems to play the system of not being bothered if we concede because we will score more. This season the place is buzzing and we are really starting to believe we can finally reach the top 6.

2) Many Arsenal fans may not be familiar with too many Burnley players, which ones are the ones to watch out for?

You will know Eagles from Manure and Blake played in the Prem for Bradford and Birmingham. Both are very tricky players that can win games on their own, but we have an excellent right winger in Elliott if fit, Paterson is on fire at the moment up front and our central midfielders that are young excellent prospects McCann and McDonald.

3) If you could take any one of the young Gunners from tonight’s squad on loan for the rest of the season, which one would you take?

The 2 players I think could become the best of the bunch are Vela and Wilshere, but we need pace at the back to really improve our team, so if you have anybody at the back with pace, then they will do. We had Randall last season and he was too lightweight for the Championship, so we did not get to see him properly. In the Premier players do get more time and build up can be a lot more patient, so he could do well, but would not make it in the Championship unless he beefs up a bit.

4) What’s the funniest football chant you’ve heard this season?

Sorry, I can’t help with this one. Burnley fans have been stuck in a rut for a few years and very few new songs are sung. Many of the fans we have come across this season have been rubbish too and I’ve not watched much on the TV, so I can’t really think of one. If you know any for Paul Ince being a football genius though I would love to hear it.

5) Many people are known to admire the football Arsenal play, but don’t like the way in which our players and staff conduct themselves, what’s your take on the club?

On the playing side of things I used to admire the old 1-0 to the Arsenal side. They always did a job. Not the best to watch, but knew how to get a result. Managers change and so do players, so now you play very differently and are a real joy to watch at times. Other times you can be frustrating by trying to walk the ball in to the nets. For me you play football that should be played when you are winning 2-0 and not when the scores are level or an odd goal separates the 2 teams. With regards to off the field. Do you mean things like Gallas etc? If so, that comes with the territory of signing players at the top level. Most have ego’s to go with their wages which to me are far to big. Football has changed and for me I don’t like it. Small town clubs like us and most of the founder members of the football league now seem to have no place in football. It is for the City clubs and money men. Sky are the main reason behind this, but that is a different story.

6) If you could choose one Christmas present for Burnley, what would it be?

In general it would be anything that would guarantee us promotion, but I will settle for a semi final draw against Barsteward Rovers providing we don’t lose to them.

7) Predictions for the game tonight?

I went to Chelsea expecting to get tonked, but hoped we could put on a performance to be proud of and keep the score down. A goal to celebrate would have been amazing. Turns out we matched them and rightly took them to pens which anybody can win. Because of that result and being at home I have more confidence, but still know how much of a tough battle we face. I will go for a similar result. 1-1, but we can win it in extra time. All this will probably depend on the snow to continue falling, so that all our Scots will feel at home 🙂
