Mart Poom got his first 45 minutes of football for Arsenal under his belt last night at Goodison park, and then spoke his first words as an Arsenal player.

Ok, so it was just 45 minutes in a Carling Cup game, but with a very youthful side in front of him, the ex Derby keeper performed well, and indeed he made an extraordinary save at the feet of Andy Johnson.

Poooooooom was pleased.

‘We showed great character even though we played most of the game with an extra man.’

‘We had a very young side, but everybody gave 100 percent. We defended well and were strong in set pieces and Emmanuel Adebayor scored at the right time.’

‘We deserved the win.’

  • this wont be popular but I think he is our best keeper! I think lehmann’s kicking and attitude are poor but Poom has always been a class keeper. I say promote him to the first team and buy a new keeper when the other 2 get p*ssed off.

  • Lehmann’s kicking is poor, but his shot stopping and catching is the best in the business. Poom played well but as saw in the dying embres of the game he flaps a bit on crosses. As long as Lehmann’s kicks get the ball away from the goal then that fine. Also JL tends to throw more than kick and his throwing as almost as good as Peter Schmicheal’s
