What do we know? In all honesty not too much has changed regarding Arsenal’s efforts to retain Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, or Liverpool’s determination to sign him, and the Gunners’ interest in Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette.

According to the Daily Mirror, there’s a strong possibility Oxlade-Chamberlain’s time at the Emirates Stadium could well come to an end this summer.

Contract developments, a lack of them in fact, could result in Arsenal deciding to let the England midfielder and Liverpool have reportedly ‘made their move’ in a bid to take Oxlade-Chamberlain to Anfield for £25m.

If Arsenal don’t want to sell, at the end of the day this isn’t going to happen. But should Oxlade-Chamberlain make it clear he’ll not pen a new deal with the Gunners that decision on allowing a player to run down his contract, then leaving on a free, has to be seriously considered.

Arriving in North London could be Lacazette, then again there’s still a very big ‘if’ about this proposed transfer.

Lyon will sell one minute and aren’t doing so the next. Having signed Bertrand Traore from Chelsea on Monday this could have been seen as a catalyst to an acceleration of Lacazette’s exit.

Traore’s signing isn’t enough, but the potential arrival of Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz, reportedly close to concluding a deal with the French club, could change the situation at Lyon dramatically.

Commenting after Traore’s arrival, quoted by Sky Sports, Jean-Michel Aulas said: ‘Today [Monday] our position is that as long as we have not signed his replacement, we will keep him. He expressed the wish to leave and he was given an agreement to go to the club of his heart, but things did not happen.’

The president did, absolutely confirm, Lacazette does want to leave the Parc Olympique Lyonnais though so offers are welcomed and would be considered.

‘He wants to leave. We will discuss it in the coming weeks. If so, offers will be heard, provided they match the value of the player.’
