I don`t think there`s any denying that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a terrific talent however much like many other Arsenal players his Gunners career has been constantly interrupted by injuries.
The Ox is a player I really like, not only does he have a fantastic work ethic, can really push the team forward with his driving runs but he`s also a really well spoken, well mannered down to earth lad, that`s rare amongst footballers these days, but we just haven`t seen the best of him due to his absence from the team.
However during this pre-season he has performed wonderfully leading many to believe it`s time for him to step up and become a first team regular.
His captain believes it`s all down to Alex now and he can achieve anything he wants to.
“[The goal was] unbelievable, but Alex can do that every week if he wants to, he`s a terrific player, one of the best talents I`ve seen, and he`s got the world open for what he wants to do. It`s up to him.”
Chambo is a beautiful striker of the ball, his shots, more often than not are clean and crisp, and almost certainly with more playing time he`ll score more goals, which is what he has his heart set on this season.
He said ‘I got a goal in the Emirates Cup, and it’s what I need to do this year, there’s no doubting that and I’m not afraid to say that I need to score more goals.”
‘I’ve set myself that target this year on a personal level so every time I’m on the pitch it’s important that I try and contribute in some way and a goal or an assist is what I need to do. It was really nice to [score on Sunday] and as it’s the winner it’s that little bit more special.”
Here`s hoping for an injury-free Ox.
