Claims that Arsenal had opened contract talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been played down by the Mirror.

This report said Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn’t spoken to the club about an extended deal with his ‘frustration’ at not being able to hold down a regular starting place could actually see him consider his Arsenal future.

Despite his most impressive spell in his Arsenal career to date that’s seen him six goals and as many assists the England midfielder has managed to complete just one 90 minutes this season. This is where his frustration continues to grow by all accounts.

Arsene Wenger has made his stance clear on the former Southampton man. He’s quoted by the Mirror as saying.

‘I want Oxlade-Chamberlain to stay at the club. He is making steps forward and overall I want him to stay.’

As the 23-year-old only has 18-months left on his Arsenal contract we could be left in a position where the Ox is another of those we risk of losing on a free if a deal isn’t agreed!
