Ospina Senses A Chance

Wednesday’s defeat to Monaco was still fresh in our minds on Sunday, we knew that Everton was a ‘must win’ game! We did that and with Liverpool beating Man City perhaps a runners-up finish might still be on?

March has often, in recent seasons, been the month when our season ‘unravels’ so to speak – on Sunday we started the month positively with our two-nil win against Everton! Second, in many ways, isn’t good enough but if we can find some consistency in our results then we could manage this.

David Ospina has told the media that as much as catching Chelsea is long gone with our win, unconvincing or not, against Everton coupled with Liverpool beating Man City two-one it does see these chances of coming second revived.

He insists that we ‘were not nervous’ after the Monaco defeat merely ‘sad’ but knew a quick pick me up was needed with the main thing, however it came, being to win on Sunday. As much as focus is now on QPR on Wednesday, and we focus on ‘doing our job’, if we pick up point our ‘keepers thinks we could yet catch Man City – then again I doubt we’re the only ones thinking this!

‘After what happened against Monaco, the only thing that was important was to win the big game to continue increasing our confidence and keeping heading up the table. Now we are already thinking about the next one, which is QPR.

‘We know we are close to them now but we need to concentrate on ourselves and not think about them. We will keep doing our job, picking up points and then see what happens.’

In fairness we’re in as good a form as any in the Premier League so if we keep this going, win the games that ‘we should win’ and collect positive results from the ‘tougher’ ones as well second is certainly on, isn’t it?
