Arsene Wenger has said that Theo Walcott’s perceived lack of form recently was nothing of the sort, he was simply focusing on the defensive duties he’d been asked to undertake.

Speaking to arsenal.com Wenger said that because Walcott had been asked to take on defensive issues instead of just bombing forward, he was now a more rounded and better player.

‘Theo has been struggling because we are making him work very hard. He is more a complete player today. He is not a liability defensively, he does his defensive job, now he wins the ball defensively and he is dangerous going forward. He works so hard.’
