Talks about new contracts at Arsenal for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez had surfaced a few months back but nothing has yet been signed. Arsene Wenger is confident this will happen soon enough.

Ahead of the Paris Saint Germain Champions League match tonight Wenger confirmed talks to extend their existing contracts, which run until the summer of 2018, will resume shortly.

‘Ozil and Sanchez, we will start to talk for their extensions.’

Both had been linked with exits from Arsenal during the summer but fortunately this didn’t happen with it said by the Metro only the fact both were on international duty this summer prevented talks from progressing.

The same report says the arrival of Ozil’s German international teammate Shkodran Mustafi has seen him ‘persuade’ the former Real Madrid midfielder to stay at Arsenal. With Sanchez settled in London and well aware he’s ‘the main man’ with the Gunners the Chilean should commit his future too.

It’ll be good to get these tied down and ideally sooner rather than later. If we went through to the end of this season without anything signed that’s when we enter that squeaky bum time!
