It’s being reported today that Hector Bellerin has signed a new long term contract with Arsenal – with the secondary benefit of scuppering Barcelona’s reported interest in him.

ESPN are today reporting that sources close to the player have confirmed that he has agreed a new six year contract at the Emirates Stadium that will bring to an end speculation over his future and suggestions Barcelona wanted to move for him either in January or over the summer.

Admittedly these reports don’t carry a single quote, not even an unattributed one, but the claim is the six contract has been agreed in principle and will reportedly double his wages to £95,000 a week to bring him into parity with others at the club – but it’s not yet signed.

A six year deal would see him contracted up until the summer of 2022, and Bellerin has obviously been with us since he was 16 years old back in 2011 and he’s established himself as a key part of the side.

He has of course also broken into the Spanish national side, and this window he’s out with the Under 21’s for their European Championship play off against Austria as he continues to grow his own experience.
