Nacho Monreal has reflected on a tough midweek clash against Leicester City but admitted he doesn’t care if he’s credited with the winning goal or not.

Hosting the side at the Emirates Stadium, Nacho’s 85th minute effort on the day hit Robert Huth before nestling in the bottom corner and the media are crediting Huth with the own goal, but for Monreal it was all about the victory and the three points and nothing else mattered to him.

Speaking to the Official Site in his own post game press conference as we closed the gap on the sides above us in the battle for the top four, Monreal explained.

‘We had many chances to score but we missed and we knew that it was going to be a difficult game. They are playing much better than before, they are a strong team again. But finally we scored a goal, we got the three points, and that is the most important thing.’

He went on to say about the performance on the evening itself.

‘We had to be patient, we trust in the quality of our players and we knew that at any moment we could score a goal. We scored when there were only five minutes until the end of the game, but we were really happy for the three points.’

As for whether it should be his goal or not, well basically he wasn’t that bothered he was just pleased to see us pick up the win and all three points.

‘I don`t know if it was my goal, or an own goal, but I don`t mind! The most important thing is we won, we got the three points and we have to keep fighting until the end of the season.’
