Shkodran Mustafi has said he believes that Arsenal showed their ‘intelligence’ when it came to taking victory over Bournemouth this weekend.

Hosting the side at the Emirates Stadium following midweek disappointment against Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal took a three one victory with a brace from Alexis Sanchez, and a Theo Walcott striker, but for Mustafi he felt we had put in a very intelligent performance – especially second half.

Speaking to the Official Site in his own post game press conference, the German international was very much focused on a team effort – even though clearly Alexis has taken the headlines once again.

‘I have been speaking a lot about individual qualities that we have in the team, but it`s games like today you win when you are a good collective, all the team. Alexis did well and in the end he scored two goals, but Oli also came on and gave a great ball. Then there`s all the other players like Oxlade-Chamberlain who played well, Mesut and all the players we have up front.’

He went on to add.

‘We are always capable to score. We defend and we have to make sure we give them less work to do, because if we don`t concede it`s enough to score one goal. But I think we did well to score three. When you are on the front foot and you get a penalty against you and they score, 1-1, it gives them belief again and then it gets difficult. But we showed good character in the second half with sharpness and cleverness. We managed the game really well and then we scored the two goals which then gave us the three points.’

Alexis was also interviewed following the game, and his brief comments are on the official site as well.

‘Thank you so much. I`m so happy for the two goals, but the team`s mentality is strong. The Premier League is very difficult but we continue, it`s more difficult for me, for the team. It`s the number one league with the likes of Chelsea, City. It`s the Premier League and I like it!’

Asked about his improving English, he added.

‘I understand a little bit but now I`m so happy for my friend (Walcott’s new offspring), for the team together – the fans are fantastic. I`m so happy, now I go to my home with my dogs!’

Atom and Humber aren’t normally names you associate with pets!

And finally, Walcott.

‘On a personal note, obviously me and Mel had a baby on Friday, little baby Arlo. She did fantastically well, it`s been a long journey. So yeah, it`s just nice to be back. It`s happened now and I can just concentrate on the football. It was a good team performance today. Bournemouth are a very solid team, they play very good football and we did find it difficult at times. We started to click again, even if it was in patchy stages, it`s started to happen again.’

As for his goal on the day.

‘You can grab a few goals from the back stick and Nacho did well. I think he just tried to go for the shot to be honest, but I was just there at the right time and luckily for me, it went in. But then again, I`m more delighted for the guys getting the three points because we`ve kept this run going. People have said we`ve been sort of edging off slightly, but in years gone by we`d have lost a lot of games. We`re still there, undefeated since the beginning of the season and, for me, it`s all positive in the dressing room at this moment in time.’
