Mustafi medical on Monday, West Brom’s Jonny Evans linked, and an enquiry for Jose Gimenez?

It’s being claimed in the red tops that Mustafi will be in London on Monday for a medical ahead of a reported £26million move to Arsenal.

The Daily Star carry the thoughts of Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli who say that a deal has now been agreed in principle between Arsenal and Valencia for the transfer of the long linked German defender Shkodran Mustafi and as long as the medical goes well, a full announcement of a deal in the region of £26million won’t take long to be announced.

The Telegraph claim the same, but say a fee of £29.5million has been agreed.

With most eyes on a centre half, given the injury issues at the club, most will undoubtedly welcome this – should it happen – but the Telegraph also have us linked with West Bromwich Albion and Northern Ireland centre half Jonny Evans who is apparently ‘free to make (the) Emirates move’ should he choose to.

They quote West Brom manager Tony Pulis, who has said of the speculation.

‘You don’t want to lose your best players, but in football sometimes that happens. If it does happen, you need to make sure you know where your replacements are. If Arsenal come in for Jonny, if we do any business we’ll do it between the clubs. I wouldn’t talk here about doing a deal with Arsenal or anybody else. The most important thing is that Jonny is with us and we want him to stay because he’s an outstanding player.’

Where that leads to their suggestion he’s ‘free’ to make the move is anybodies guess.

So onto Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez, the Telegraph say we’ve enquired about a 40million Euro move, whilst others report the fee would be in excess of 50million Euros for the 21 year old Uruguayan.
