What is it with long drawn out transfer sagas this summer?

With all the movement you’d expect this summer to be one of the most exciting off-seasons in the history of Arsenal Football Club.

But in actual fact the deals so far have become long-winded monotonous affairs, non more-so than the signing of Samir Nasri.

The will he / won’t he, chuckle brothers ‘to me, to you’ style of this transfer has bored and frustrated many Gooners, but a statement released on his personal website on Monday meant the deal was finally done.

But the gun had been jumped.

The article in question was removed from the site, a statement issued saying Nasri wasn’t quite an Arsenal player ….. and we were back to playing the waiting game.

Now the Marseille president, Pape Diouf has informed us that he only intends to drag the transfer out for a little while longer.

‘After much negotiations with him and his representatives, we have reached an agreement which will see Samir join Arsenal,’ he revealed. ‘Samir was very concretely approached by Arsenal, a club which was also sent to us.’

‘So there are steps to be taken which are to establish a definitive agreement between the two clubs. It is not yet done even if verbally, agreements have been completed.’

Good, the sooner this is over the soon I can go back alphabetising my dvds.
