Mohamed Elneny has launched a staunch defence of Arsenal teammate Alexandre Lacazette by claiming the Frenchman trains on his finishing after training.
The former Olympique Lyonnais man has endured a tough time recently, having featured in just two of the last seven games across all competitions.
Speaking ahead of the Europa League clash with Olympiacos, the Egyptian laid praise on the France international, labelling him an ‘amazing player’.
Elneny said: “He’s an amazing player for us. He’s scored so many goals for the team. He’s an amazing player and loves to score. He always trains after training for finishing.” (via football.london)
It’s hard to form an opinion on a player who is proving to be Arsenal’s marmite. Some group of fans love the ace, who possesses many attributes aside from finishing, whereas others feel he’s far too inconsistent to be the club’s number nine and want him sold.
But, given the fact he’s proven so inconsistent, it probably forms the opinion itself. If the Gunners want to achieve their lofty goals, they’d do well to sell the striker and purchase a reliable option. The likes of Odsonne Edouard has been touted by the media, and with his record at Celtic proving far superior, you feel he’d been a standout candidate to take over the reins.
However, the Reds must be careful in their pursuit of a new number nine. The north London giants, don’t have the best of records in signing centre-forwards since the departure of Robin van Persie back in 2012, and with the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli all waiting in the wings for their opportunities, Arteta has options closer to home in terms of replacements.
