David Miles has looked to ease concerns over the long-term Arsenal futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez – among those who only have 18-months left on their current contracts at the Emirates Stadium.

The general secretary has said these talks were ‘looking pretty good’ at the moment.

Miles was quoted by BT Sport, via the Evening Standard as saying.

‘Of course, we know talks are ongoing with certain players and certain contracts. At the moment, things are looking pretty good in that way.’

He was commenting following the Champions League draw on Monday when Arsenal of course drew Bayern Munich meaning we’ll meet our old foe once again as we look to end that last 16 hoodoo.

If the likes of Ozil and Alexis were to commit to new contracts in the coming weeks that would be a very welcome bonus. This would also eliminate an unwanted distraction that could impact on our aims over the second half of the campaign.

However, for Arsenal to sustain a title challenge and push into the quarter-finals and beyond in Europe you can’t help but feel arrivals are needed too.

Miles remained very tight-lipped on that score though adding this was ‘Arsene’s domain.’

‘Obviously that`s Arsene`s domain, and it`s in very safe hands. I know he`s already looking for opportunities to strengthen the squad.’
