Arsenal`s Mesut Ozil has been nominated for the PFA player of the year award.

The Gunners midfielder has been far and away our best player this season with 18 assists, 8 goals and an astronomical amount of chances created. No doubt had we not been so wasteful in front of goal Ozil could have laid waste to Thierry Henry`s all time assist record.

So it`s no surprise to see him nominated for the award. Of course it`s extremely unlikely he`ll win it outright as he`s going up against three players from the Champions elect, Leicester City. Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N`Golo Kante, who have all been amazing, stand in his way and it will no doubt go to one of those guys, and if I`m honest, rightly so too.

There`s some guy with a massive tongue in the running too, but the least said about him the better.

List of nominees.

Dimitri Payet (West Ham United)
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)
N’Golo Kante (Leicester City)
Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City)
