Paul Merson is set to rock the footballing world to it’s very core with his latest statement regarding Arsenal FC.

A very very brief article on the Daily Mail website has The Merse tipping our very own Robin Van Persie to finish the upcoming season by walking away with the Golden Boot.

The Magic Man said, ‘It is a bold prediction but I think he has the chance to be the top scorer in the division.’

Far be it from me to pick holes in Merse’s statement, but i think it’s not that much of a bold prediction.

Last season, before his injury, RVP was showing the sort of goalscoring prowess to suggest that this was a very real prospect of happening in the season now gone.

Only an unfortunate injury picked up whilst tucking away the winner against ManUre denied RVP the chance to fill his boots to the tune of 20+ goals last season. So barring another lengthy layoff this time out, Rockin’ Robin has definitely got the talent to end the season as the Prem’s leading marksman.

And, now seen as the Gunners’ main man up front, he’s certainly started off pre-season in the right style, looking rather sharp and netting already.

Robin, we’ll be looking forward to seeing your many goals this season.

  • If he stays fot for the whole season, he might just walk away with player of the year too.

  • and a title medal, LD. That’s if we can finish above the spuds, of course. »»Arsene Knows««

  • I think RVP is going to be the next big thing in the Premiership !! I have a really good feeling about his season.

  • In terms of talent, RVP ranks alongside the best I’ve seen in the short. He needs to pull his head in a bit though, I think he has that nice arrogance where Henry’s departure will help him. He will relish being the main man. As far as footballers go, I see him as a Liam Gallagher type, he’s good at what he does, but he’s got that something extra as well, that presence. Let’s just hope he doesn’t start headbutting photographers!

  • I’ve maintain for the past couple of years that RVP will become a world class striker, and I reckon this is the season. As LD claims, he seems to enjoy being the top dog and by Henry’s own addmission he’s the most skilfull player he’s ever seen. And not to pick hole’s in your article Wingers, didn’t Rob break his foot scoring the equaliser?

  • ****eholes!!! he did, and i even spotted that little doozieas I was writing the darn piece, and meant to correct that – indeed, Henry tucked away the winner. Oh well, I am not editing it, i will just have to hold my hands up… »»Arsene Knows««

  • thats a bit of a turnaround from “they really worry me this season”…i expected him to explode last season which he was on the verge of. ive put money on 25+ goals for RVP its good value

  • Wingers, do you still type out Arsene knows??? Anywhoo, RVP is already world class. If Ronaldo is surely RVP is? If he scores 25 goals next year it would not surprise me. Is it impossible to think that he could break some reacord at the club???

  • Its pretty tantalising to imagine him finally setting the team and the league alight. It really is make or break time – we’re at a crossroads and chances don’t come around as perfect as this. Love his audacity, and just hope his temperament holds.

  • Hoping for Eduardo and RVP to get a combined 35+ goals in the league next season. Im confident they can do it.

  • Is it just me who is tired at the same old pathetic stick being used to beat this club with? Ask these people to justify their arguments, and they just ignore you and carry on with their diatribe of ****e… »»Arsene Knows««

  • HEY!!!! I’ve just realised, the picture of Rob in this article (we’ve had for nearly a year btw) isn’t that Eduardo on his right?? Psychic or what?!

  • RvP will score 20+ goals. Combine that with goals from Da Silva, Theo, Cesc and Rosicky then you the amazing talent we have at the front

  • I’m sure you’ll correct me if I’m wrong, but weren’t most of those goals scored while playing along side Henry
