Match Preview Arsenal vs Spurs

As I`ve said already once today, I don`t enjoy the NLD one bit. It`s tense, it`s hostile and a victory is more of a relief than it is a pleasure these days. That said, after the hammering we took at the hands of Bayern Munich last Wednesday this game has some extra importance.

First of all we need three points to ensure we remain level on points with Man City (assuming they win), that is the single most important factor of this game. Win.

Secondly and thirdly (you choose the order) we need to bounce back from that heavy defeat and make sure it doesn`t affect us mentally and what better way of bouncing back than beating Spurs? And also, it`s Spurs, we always want to win, even a draw isn`t very satisfying. It`s just the way it is.

We already have one NLD win in the bag this season, let`s hope we can take the more important “W” tomorrow.

Vital Quotes:

Arsene Wenger – “I believe that in the Premier League we have a strong confidence and focus and that is what we want to reproduce on Sunday against Tottenham and, as always, it is a derby. It is always a game where the commitment and nervous force will be important.’

Eric Dier – “We`re in great form, they are in great form and it`s the derby, it will be tough.

“Both teams like to go forward, we play a very intense style of football and they like to attack so it`s going to be a great game for the fans.

“Hopefully we`re the ones who are enjoying it at the end!”

Arsenal Team News:

Arsenal are missing a whole host of players as Theo Walcott, The Ox, Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck and Hecotr Bellerin all are still missing.

Arsene Wenger has back tracked slightly on Laurent Koscielny and now gives him an 80% chance of starting the game.

Player to watch: Olivier Giroud

Giroud has found himself back in the starting line up thanks to an injury to Theo Walcott, however given his goal scoring form (he has the best minutes per goals ratio out of anyone in the PL) he could well have earned his way back in on merit.

Giroud likes to play against Spurs, hopefully his goal scoring form will continue.

Spurs Team News:

Chadli is injured for Spurs.

Moving on ….

Player to watch: Harry Kane

Much like Olivier Giroud, Kane didn’t get off to the best of starts this season but has found his shooting boots in recent week, and also like Giroud, he likes a good NLD.

Match Facts & Stats

Spurs have won 4 and drawn 2 of their last 6 games whilst Arsenal have lost 1 and won 5.

Tottenham have only won one league game at our ground since 1993.

There has only been one goalless drawn in the last 31 NLDs

Match Prediction:

I’m going for a healthy 2-1 win for the Gunners.

Kane for Spurs Giroud and Ozil for the mighty Gunners
