Martin Keown lauds £81m-rated Premier League ace ahead of crunch clash

|

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has compared Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes to ex-Red Devil Eric Cantona after his winner versus Liverpool

With the game at 2-2, the £81m-rated Portuguese midfielder struck a late free-kick to send the Old Trafford giants through to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Gunners play Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men this week at the Emirates Stadium in a crunch Premier League clash.

Who will win this Saturday's Premier League clash?

Arsenal

Manchester United

Speaking in his Daily Mail column, the former defender claimed the late winner will give the north-west outfit confidence in the title race.

Amidst all the excitement over United’s run of form which has seen them remain unbeaten in their last five games across all competitions, Saturday’s clash with the Reds will be a monstrous clash.

The Gunners have a positive recent record against their fierce rivals in the top-flight, having last lost to them over three years ago, back in 2018 when Jose Mourinho defeated a weakened side 2-1 at Old Trafford.

However, the north London giants have had the better of the recent meetings, winning three of the last five league fixtures. And bar anything dramatic, I expect that record to be extended in this weekend’s clash with the Gunners in top form.

No loss in five in the top-flight, Mikel Arteta’s men are flying and with their high energy football bound to make a return like in the win over Chelsea, there should be enough for Arsenal to defeat Solskjaer’s men.

In Fernandes, there is a threat that the Emirates Stadium giants could get carved open by the Portugal international’s vision, but, the defence seems to be far more solid in recent times with four consecutive clean sheets.

Arsenal’s biggest test of the season will be Saturday’s clash with the table-toppers, however, given how well they’re playing right now, I’d back the side to get the job done.

In other news, one Premier League boss asked his club to sign Aubameyang.
