Shock horror, as if this isn’t a surprise, Anthony Martial swapping Manchester United for Arsenal isn’t a transfer much likely to go ahead this summer.
Man United’s ongoing interest in other targets could push Martial further down the packing order at Old Trafford.
But, in spite of Arsene Wenger’s previous interest in the Frenchman – of course, making such rumours easier to claim – when he joined United from Monaco in 2015, a so-called ‘stunning’ £40m switch has been described as ‘false.’

That social media post translates to ‘the rumours are false.’
Wenger was caught on the back foot when Man United secured Martial in a deal that set United back an initial £36m, making him the world’s most expensive teenager; that could eventually – albeit unlikely as this would need him to be successful at Old Trafford – rise to as much as £58m.
I think this is one we’ll get over as Martial, 21, wouldn’t be worth the reported £40m fee anyway, money better spent elsewhere in my opinion. Not that Arsenal are having much joy spending this, which you assume the rumours of Wenger wanting to do so are actually true?
