Arsene Wenger’s red & white army embark on their first away day of the season tomorrow as they face Manchester City in the evening kick off of the days Premiership festiveties.

Fresh from earning their first win at Ashburton Grove, Wenger’s young Gunners look to make amends for last seasons horror road show that saw us lose more games on our travels than we had in the previous three seasons combined. For what ever reason, we seemed to have problems coming to terms with the physical aspect of the game, especially against teams of a more Northern persuasion. However, as last season drew to a close, Le Boss seemed to have found the right combination of skill, flair and power to drag us home to Champions League glory, well fourth place but after the season we endured pipped the ‘Squirts’ to 4th on the last day of the season felt like glory.

City have not gotten off to the best of starts this season, drawing one and losing one, so Wenger will be looking to capitalise on any insecurities & weaknesses in the City starting line up.

The game at the City of Manchester Stadium is always a little special for me, because it gives me opportunity to attend a game that doesn’t involve more time spent on the coach than I do with my matchday experience, freeing up plenty of time to sample the local brew.

So lets hope we start as we mean to go on, with three points and plenty of songs about hating Man Utd!

Arsene Says……….

COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!!!!!!

Ok, so maybe not but I couldn’t really find any interesting quotes that actually related to this match.

Arsenal Team News:

Tomas Rosicky looks set to made his debut as he earns his place in the squad thanks to a rested Freddie Ljungberg. Thierry Henry, Jens Lehmann & Gilberto all earn recalls.

Player to watch: Tomas Rosicky

It’ll be interesting to see how ‘Little Mozart’ adpats to life in the Premiership, but if early indications are anything to go by, he’s gunna fit straight in.

Man City Team News:

Hideous elbower Ben Thatcher could face an internal susspension from Stuart ‘Pyscho’ Pearce. I think he needs more than a susspension, he wants locking up as his wrap sheets is longer than Peter Crouch’s socks. Also City’s new stopper Isaksson is ruled out after needing surgery, so Nicky Weaver keeps his place.

Player to watch: Paul Dickov

How many times can that little turd come back to haunt us?

Match Prediction

Seen as I got the last one exactly right, I’ll give it another crack.

2-0 to the mighty Gunners.

Next Fixture:

Arsenal v Boro

  • Surprised Man City’s player to watch isn’t Ben Thatcher! I know the ref and the Met will be watching him very closely. as they should! Diasgraceful conduct!

  • 2-0 to The Arsenal will do me jsut fine, as well as expecting people o have decent form. Nothing fancy or roof-raising, just a good game of football and a good three points.

  • This will be a good test for us, Barton and Dabo is a powerful midfield. Still I’m looking forward to my first long journey North since…City away actually!

  • I reckon Arsenal by 2 clear goals. Hopefully Rosicky doesn’t take as long as Hleb to fit in and can make an imediate impact. Looking forward to seeing him in action. I also think it’s time to bring Flamini back in at left back. I don’t think Hoyte is good enough to play for us. Maybe Traore can get a run soon.

  • Just found this on arsenal.com from Wenger on Reyes “?It?s like you wanting to marry Miss World and she doesn?t want you. I can try to help you but if she does not want to marry you what can I do?
?It?s exactly the same. He wants to go Spain and we have no offer, what can I do about that??. Arsene you ARE a legend! What a man!

  • its worse than miss world not wanting to marry you, its like telling your wife you want a divorce then she says she doesnt want you. anyhoo i say 3-0 which will propel us to 2nd place

  • it will be a tough game, but i reckon if we start like a house on fire and choke the game, we could get 2 or 3 early goals and hopefully ade, henry and walcott can get on the scoresheet. but it won’t be easy, the boys will have to concentrate and work hard, especially hoyte who looks a bit akward at left back, ball watches too much.

  • 1-nil to the Citzens. 1-nil to the Citizens. And the world is a brighter place today. There’s only one Jimmy Grimble!

  • ah well, we will come back stronger, no need to worry.. 2 games in still a lot of the season to go..

  • hi, everybody I am a devoted gooner. I am Chinese.last night I didn’t watch the match…when I got the news, I felt terrible. bad start for arsenal…fortunately it’s just starting. com’on Gunners. Stand up for the Champions!!!

  • We mave have lost GWN, but you are in a much worse postion having lost 2-0 at home to a team with ten men!!!

  • Who here thinks that JB Juriah @#$$ed over our Gunners again? Horrible call… Should have awarded a pen to v.persie. I always get the impression that he doesn’t like AW or the team. But bad calls aside our boys our just warming up. Don’t take too long though……
