Excessive personal demands and a hefty asking price have reportedly ended Bayern Munich’s interest in Alexis Sanchez, according to the Daily Mirror.

However, this doesn’t mean he’ll stay at Arsenal as Manchester City are now seen as the ‘front runners’ to sign the former Barcelona forward.

Arsenal, despite desperately fighting to keep Alexis in North London, reportedly offering a new deal in excess of £275,000 a week, now fear this is a ‘losing battle’ and the Chilean will leave, if not this summer then in 2018 as a free agent.

The Mirror said Bayern have been ‘scared off’ by Arsenal’s £50+ transfer fee, given the fact they could negotiate a free transfer from January, and Alexis’ wage demands of £350,000 a week to join the Bundesliga champions – interest will end completely unless something changes.

All of this is leaving Man City as the ‘red-hot’ favourites to sign him, which is a viewpoint shared by the Guardian.

Owing the fact Alexis is keen to play under Man City boss Pep Guardiola once again, a stance Arsene Wenger is aware of but unwilling to accept him joining a Premier League rival, City are ‘increasingly confident’ of signing the forward for a ‘fee in the region on £50m.’

The Guardian went on to claim Alexis, 28, has so far been offered £250,000 a week at Arsenal to sign a new deal but could also earn closer to £300,000 at the Etihad Stadium.
