According to the Daily Mirror at the weekend, Liverpool’s signing of former Chelsea forward Mohamed Salah from Roma hasn’t ended an interest in Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Having paid – excessively over the odds – £39m for Salah Liverpool will ‘continue their spending spree’ with a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain, continually linked with a move to Anfield in recently months.

Contract talks with Oxlade-Chamberlain, 23, who, of course, is another now in the final year of his current Arsenal deal, continue to drag on putting his Gunners future in doubt and Liverpool are willing to pay up to £30m for the former Southampton midfielder.

Jurgen Klopp’s sights are reportedly firmly set on the England international – also linked with Chelsea and Manchester City – with the Mirror reporting ‘sources within Anfield indicating that the chances of the transfer going through are increasing.’

If Arsene Wenger persists with his 3-5-2 formation it could be ideally suited for Oxlade-Chamberlain, used as a wing-back by the Arsenal boss in the latter part of last season, but much depends on his contract situation.

Arsenal, as ever, wouldn’t want to offload a player to a Premier League rival but if it becomes clear Oxlade-Chamberlain isn’t going to sign a new deal, perhaps we’re not going to offer him one, a decision needs to be made this summer.

Is Ox worth more to the club seeing out his contract, leaving on a free at the end of it, or should an offer up to £30m be accepted now?
