Ok, maybe the word ‘hate’ is a little bit strong. ‘Hate’ should be reserved for vile, evil and villainous characters, but I’m sorry, when it comes to Alex Ferguson the word ‘dislike’ just does not cut the mustard.

Over the past few years Fergie had seemed to have mellowed somewhat, even paying regular compliments to the lord our Wenger. I actually seem to remember writing an article last year that the new and improved Fergie was almost becoming like-able.

However in light of recent events it appears that my initial assessment of SAF just being a cantankerous old so-and-so was correct.

It is apparent that anyone, or thing that Ferguson finds threatening he winds up / plays mind games with / insults, even if his facts don’t add up, he opens his mouth and let fly with the bile.

In the past ten years we have heard many many comments coming from the Salford Reds camp regarding our players, manager and anything else to do with Arsenal, but his latest torrent of abuse is the most laughable of all.

Whilst Chelsea had their little stint at the top, ‘purple face’ saved the really special antics for the special one, as of course the Blues were his main rivals, but now the Gunners seem to be mounting a challenge his old pal Wenger has been put back in the firing line.

Yet whilst I sit, with boiling blood, at some of Fergie’s comments, I have to say I’ve missed all of this, and that’s it’s good to be back.

You know that when you’re on the wrong end of one of the mad Scotsman’s outbursts, that you’re really back in the big time.
