As plans are made for a long-term successor to Petr Cech – who has come under fire for some of his performances this season – it has been reported by the Sun Arsenal are considering a move for Leicester’s Kasper Schmeichel.

The Leicester defence of the Premier League has been poor – not that Arsenal have excelled this season of course – but Schmeichel has again been in excellent form for the Foxes.

With the help of the 30 year old Leicester look set to avoid the threat of Premier League relegation and thanks to the heroics of Schmeichel in the Champions League against Sevilla remain the only English club left in the competition at the quarter-final stage.

His form has not only seen him named Danish Player of the Year for a second consecutive season it’s also caught the eye of Arsene Wenger according to these claims, which will see the Arsenal boss – after signing a new deal – turn to Schmeichel now that he’s in his prime as a keeper.

Leicester will fight to keep hold of Schmeichel but if the Gunners could tempt him to North London he wouldn’t be a bad option at all would he?
